How To Use This Website

The Mindset project is mainly intended to help general-assignment reporters and editors - our profession's 'first responders' - because of the significant influence their stories have on public perception, especially in dramatic cases.

Read our concise field guide, which contains the basic information all journalists and journalism students need. Printed copies are available to journalists, journalism schools and news organizations on request. But you don't have to wait. You can download your own copy of Mindset: Reporting on Mental Health by clicking on the link below.

If you want to go deeper into any of the topics covered by chapters in the guide, click on the appropriate chapter tab. There you can read the chapter itself, check out any updates, and browse related resources.

You can also check out the Mindset Facebook page, join that group, and follow Mindset Media Guide on Twitter.

Many experienced journalists, mental health and legal professionals contributed to the information and recommendations in the guide and on the website. We are grateful for their time and expertise. The Canadian Journalism Forum on Violence and Trauma, however, has sole editorial responsibility for the guide.
